I am in process of switching out my stock intake for an edelbrock performer 2131 and noticed that the hole for my upper a/c brace is not in the eddy. Do you recommend that I tap a hole or leave the upper brace off???
I do plan on using the a/c.
Please help a new amc'r!

Without that brace, your compressor, when turned on, will snap the aluminum engine mounting base (over time) from undampened vibration of the piston within the compressor. It is best to fabricate a brace if you plan on using the A/C with regularity.

Thanks for the response. I figured I might need to do something about it. Just wanted to check with the experts!

This is only a suggestion that I did to my Javelin. I fabricated a brace that runs from the passenger side of the ac compressor to the passenger side block where the negative battery cable is. Seems to work fine and have not any problems with it since I did it. Done it about 3 years ago when I changed engines. Good Luck.
