any tips to repair window regulator/ availiable parts for?

I am also looking for assistance on window regulators for my 1969 AMX. After searching INET and finding very little, I am thinking of buying a universal manual window regulator and seeing if I can Fab it to replace mine. Surely, I am not the first to plow this ground. Anybody??
