74 AMX with 343?

Since I got my Javelin back yesterday I've been thumbing through my 74 AMC Service Manual. I was looking at the VIN decoding section and noticed that there is no 343cid engine noted for the 74 Model year. This got me to thinking back to my 74 AMX that I purchased back in the mid 80s. It had a 343 engine in it. The car was used so there may have been an engine swap prior to my buying the car.

Does anyone know when AMC quit using the 343?

343 was last used 69 model year cars,in 70 the 290 was replaced by 304,343 by 360,and the 390 remained untill 71 when 401 was available.the deck height was increased along with new dog-leg exhaust port heads.someone swapped motors in this car
