Color code for 1969 BBO AMX

I have had my '69 BBO AMX for 20 years and just realized the paint code on my door tag reads 3A instead of P3 which is what I thought the color should be. Could anyone explain the difference? Could it be acrylic vs. polyurethane?

It should be a P. I have no explanation for an A. But it was not a difference of paint composition. Poly was not used until the 1979 Pacers and only one color.
