Beautiful car. IMO, the 70 + 71 AMX's and the 69 Z/28's were the best looking cars ever to roll off an assembly line. I'm embarassed to say i parted out a 71 / 401 car identical to yours in the 80's. If only i could turn back time, i'd reverse that decision........and maybe buy a few Hemi Cuda's!

    Good luck with your car!

One cool ride!!!!!!!!!! I also have a 71 Javie SST and I recently put in a 401 into it. Mine is the same color as yours and I have finally fallen for the color. Have had the car for over 25 years.

Thanks for the kind words about my car. I actually have two of these, the other one is in storage and was my first car. It needs resoration. I bought this one as it is in original showroom condition & never been restored. I am thinking about converting my other '71 into a Mark Donahue #6 TransAm Clone...if I ever find some free time and money. I too think this is the fastest looking car to ever exit an American factory assembly line. They were way ahead of their time. Of course I am biased living in Wisconsin, home of the once awesome AMC.

My other '71 is an AMX with a 360 4-BBL. I removed the original Shift Command Auto and replaced it with a 3-speed manual from my brothers '74 Javelin that he wrecked. I threw the automatic tranny away! Wish I had that now. It was originally Mustard Yellow, but I painted it White with black striping because I thought it looked "faster". The stuipd things we do when we are 18.
